Russell Racing Team
The Russell family, including actor, Kurt Russell, along with his three sisters, Jody, Jill, and Jamie, competively raced Quarter Midgets in the 1950s
and early 60s, winning hundreds of first place trophies throughout the West Coast.
Father, Bing Russell, saw Kurt’s early passion for speed and went “all in” to help all of the kids be fast. Bing’s slogan was, “don’t bring any second place trophies into our house!”
Famous Disney Imagineer, Bob Gurr, helped his friend, Bing Russell, by designing a better front suspension for Kurt’s car. Kurt won the 1959 Quarter Midget Nationals in Las Vegas.

The two cars on display previously hung in the Russell family home for decades. In 2023, the Russell family decided to donate the cars and memorobilia to the Museum of American Speed to tell the story of their wonderful parents and lifelong bonds they built through racing competition.
Special thanks to the Russell Family, manager, Bob Love, and engineer, Bob Gurr. |
