This car raced in the 1950s on paved race track. The major advantages of the Ranger engine, which was salvaged from PT-19 airplanes, were its cost, size and weight. After World War II these inline-six-cylinder air-cooled engines could be purchased for around $50.00. The engines were inverted in the race cars with the crankshaft on the bottom to achieve a maximum of 5,000 rpm’s. These engines measured in at 440-cubic inches.
