Some of the best drivers of their generation qualified this car for the Indy 500 five times from 1939-1947, and raced it on AAA's dirt tracks around the Midwest through the summer of 1948.
 
 400 hp 265-c.i. DOHC 6-cyl engine, with 4 valves per cylinder, was designed by the legendary Leo Goossen to Joe Lencki's specifications, and built at Offenhauser Manufacturing Co. in L.A. It's the only 6-cyl race engine Offenhauser ever built.

   Rigling Brothers hand-formed the all-aluminum body.  Fairing over the front suspension helped car reach 124 mph.
​​Frank Kurtis built the car's fuel and oil tanks. Suspension utilized conventional Ford axles and springs.

   This was the first car to race at Indy with four-wheel disc brakes. They were mechanically actuated (not hydraulic).
