Darrell Mayabb
Darrell Mayabb is an automotive artist who has spent a lifetime perfecting all types of media. As one of the most versatile American artists of our time, his extensive portfolio stretches from rendering design, water color paintings, to hand drawn illustrations. He has worked closely with names like Ed Roth, Norm Grabowski, Chip Foose, and many more. Mayabb was born and raised near Dayton, Ohio. He graduated at the top of his class from the Central Academy of Commercial Art in Cincinnati. In the 1950s, Mayabb was influenced by big names in hot rod design like Big Daddy Ed Roth, and Hot Rod Magazine legend, Tom Medley, creator of the "Stroker McGurk" character series. His inspirations led him to develop an artistic style known for its color, edgy lines, and caricaturist qualities. After having a successful career in Army, Mayabb later worked as a staff illustrator for North American Aviation. Some of his first jobs were on the Apollo project creating illustrations for NASA. Other longtime clients include, PPG Industries, Hot Rod Magazine, Rod and Custom, and many more. He married his high school sweetheart and together they raised two children in Colorado. Today, Darrell continues to paint and design from his home studio in Colorado. His fine art work has become highly desired and is collectible among many enthusiasts.
