This car was built for Duane “Pancho” Carter in the early 1960s.  Carter ran at many tracks in the Indianapolis-Terre Haute, Indiana area.  Carter went on to have a stellar career in sprints, midgets and Indy cars.

​Frank Kurtis built more than 1,500 quarter-midgets from 1952 to the mid-1960s.  These cars featured a tubular frame, torsion-bar suspension, mag wheels and mechanical brakes.  Early models were equipped with a 7.5-cubic inch four-stroke Continental engine with chain drive to the rear axle.  They were modeled after the Kurtis KK500 Indy Cars.  Prices started at $587.00 ready to run.
