Roland Crocker, a specialist with the new flathead Ford V-8 engine, did most of the work at his gas station in Salina, KS, where the car sat when it was not being drive by “Hot Shoe” Jack Petty. Petty set a one-lap dirt track record with the car at Plaza Speedway in Junction City, KS.
