This was the first car built by National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee, Bob Trostle.  Bob built it in 1961 and campaigned it through 1964 at many race tracks as both a “caged” supermodified and a “cageless” sprint car in the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA) and the Mississippi Valley Championship Circuit (MVCC).
 
   The first feature win of Bob’s career came with this car at Webster City, Iowa with driver, Sonny Helms, in 1962.  It broke a track record at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, that had previously been owned by Bobby Grim in Hector Honore’s “Black Deuce.” 

   This car, with Johnny Babb driving, set the quickest time trial at the 1964 Knoxville Nationals.

​   Bob Trostle had many drivers in the seat of his car over the years but his most successful year was 1977 with Doug Wolfgang behind the wheel winning both the Knoxville track championship and the Knoxville Nationals. They won 45 features together that year and set the Knoxville Raceway standard of winning ten consecutive features and 12 regular season wins at Knoxville, records that may never be broken.
 
   Bob scored previous track titles in 1976, with Wolfgang, 1978 with Oklahoma’s Shane Carson, 1981 & 1982 with California’s Tim Green and 1988 with Iowan Randy Smith. The year 1980 saw Trostle win the Knoxville Nationals for a second time as co-owner with Karl Kinser and driver, Steve Kinser.  For his career, Bob has 302 sprint car wins.
