#27 Fronty-Ford

   This car is  recreation of Henry Meyer's first race car. The original was built from pieces left from an auto that had been crashed badly by another driver in 1927.

   The car was raced by Meyer in 1928 and was quite successful, including a big win in a 100-lap race at Canfield, OH. Meyer was a hard charging driver, as a result, the car was wrecked several times. After one particularly bad wreck, Meyer was pronounced dead at the scene but later, much to the surprise of the attending doctor, woke up during the ride to the morgue.

   The car features a single overhead cam Frontenac head on a Ford Model T block. These engines were commonly called, "Fronty-Fords." 

   Meyer went on to have a stellar career as a racing mechanic after his driving years were over.
