​Marv Morehead built this car for the 1964 racing season, when the Lincoln area adopted the Knoxville Raceway rules for supermodifieds.
 
   It features a Ford Flathead engine and Morehead adapted a Crosley rear-end to use as a steering box.  Many low-buck racers used the local junk yard as their “Speedway Motors.”

   Morehead raced this car through the 1969 season. 
 
   The car’s most famous moment was making it into Hot Rod Magazine, in the August 1968 issue.   It is in the photo at the bottom left of page 32, somewhat obscured by the #11 car and is shown in the upper right-hand photo on page 33 leading a pack of three other cars.

​   Marv Morehead was never a winner of even a frontrunner.  He was one of those guys who usually ran in the middle of the B Feature, but he was there every week giving it his best shot.  It is guys like Marv that formed (and still forms) the backbone of the sport.
