​272 ci Miller DOHC v-16

   This engine is displayed in the Miller Gallery in one of only two Miller V-16 engines of its design. Designed by Leo Goossen in the 1920s for Harry Miller.

   It has a Duel Overhead Cam design with aluminum alloy block/heads & crankcase.

   The parts used for this engine were originally made to construct two engines. The first engine was built at 301 c.i., and raced at Indy in 1931 and 1932.

   This engine is the second V-16 made by Miller. This engine was entered in the 1947 Indy 500 by owner Louis Rassey and driver Shorty Cantlon. 

​   Shorty Cantlon drove both the 1931 V-16 car and the 1947 V-16 car in the two Indy 500-mile races.
