Danny Wallace of Des Moines was a regular racer at The Eldon Raceway and the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa. Wallace also occasionally raced at The Bloomfield Speedway.

     Wallace retired from auto racing after the 2004 racing season after 30 years of competition. He started racing in the Sportsman division and, a few years later, he moved to racing in the Late Model division.

     He raced a few years in the Late Models before he moved to the Modifieds in 1985. He competed in the Modifieds the last 19 years of his career.

     In his 30-year racing career, Wallace amassed around 160 feature wins with 29 of those coming in 1992 where he was crowned the IMCA Modified National Champion. In 1991 and 1993, he finished as the IMCA Modified National Runner-up.

​   “My brothers raced a little bit, and they used a lot of different numbers. I used their last race car for my first race car and it was the number 41, so I just used that number," Wallace said. "In 1992 and 1993, I drove the Speedway Motors Kit Car which was featured on the front page of Stock Car Magazine. Any of their house cars are the number 4X, so those two years I was the number 4X."

     “Oskaloosa and Audubon are my favorite tracks. In 1992, I won 14 out of 15 races at Audubon," Wallace added. "My most memorable win would probably be at Princeton, Illinois. I was having clutch problems one night there. They sent me to the rear of the feature field twice and I still came back and won that race."
 
Speedway Motors Modified

     The speedway Motors Modified was featured on the cover of the January 1992 issue of Stock Car Racing Magazine.  An extensive tech article was included in the magazine. 

     Wallace won 29 features and the IMCA National Championship in 1992.
