Riley Opposed 2 Cycle
The Museum has on display two examples of Riley Opposed 2-cylinder, four-cycle Midget engines. George Riley designed and built these in 1935. Both engines are water cooled and 96 cubic-inches. Left This engine is rated at 9:1 compression with 80hp at 6500rpm. Both the crank and camshafts are mounted on roller bearing. Right After preliminary testing this engine design failed after continued crankshaft vibration and Riley stopped construction of this engine. |
