Roy Bryant raced Jalopies, modifieds, super modifieds and Sprint cars during a career that lasted over three decades.During that time the lead foot from Wichita tied for the most victories in BCRA history.
 
   In 1956 Roy started his career racing a jalopy for Lawrence Miller.
 
   By 1963 the jalopies had become modifieds and Roy was racing to the head of the class.
 
   In 1963-1964 and 1965 Bryant won the Grand Daddy of all modified races in the Midlands, the "Hutch Nationals". Also during that time he won the 5 state championship for modifieds at Liberal Kansas in 1963.

    During the 1965 season he teamed up with veteran sprint car owner Red Forshee and ran his first ever sprint car race at The Belleville Free Fair under BCRA sanction. Roy won that first race and from then on became a instant fixture in the association.

​   In 1966 Roy drove the full BCRA circuit and won again at the Belleville Highbanks. Bryant moved from 9th place in points the previous year to 2nd place behind Jay Woodside. A championship season followed the next year in 1967. Belleville was the sight for all 4 BCRA races that year and Roy won 2 out of 4!

   A repeat performance occured in 1968 as once again the Bryant & Forshee duo took the top prize in BCRA competition.He didn't win at Belleville that year, but instead took the top money at Hutchinson during the Kansas State Fair.
 
   Roy also ventured into the IMCA ranks as well, finishing as high as fourth in a 1967 race at Des Moines and second at a race in LIncoln in 1968.
 
   In 1970 the BCRA had one of its best weekends of racing ever at Erie Colorado. Bryant secured his record tying 6th victory there driving for Bill Smith.
 
   Like other drivers from Kansas during that era he returned to his roots in Super Modified racing. Over the years the Jalopy cars had evolved into modifieds and then into Super Modifieds, run on gasoline with a 100 inch wheel base and carburators instead of fuel injection. Eventually by the 1980's this class would evolve into Sprint Cars.After becoming Championship Dirt Cars in the interim.
 
   The Wichita flyer won the Super Modified championship in 1975 at 81 speedway. In between he made one last fling into the sprint ranks finishing 12th place in the final standings of IMCA in 1973.
 
   His final big moment came in 1978 win he won the Hutch Nationals for Super Modifieds for a record fourth time.
