Shane Carson began his racing career in in 1973, racing modifieds and won his first feature just one month later.  By 1977, he had signed up with LaVern Nance to race sprint cars and scored his first big win by beating Doug Wolfgang at Phenix City, Alabama.

     Bob Trostle hired him to drive in 1978 and Shane had a breakout year winning 21 races, the Knoxville Raceway and NSCA titles.  In 1979, Carson piloted the Speedway Motors Special for the first half of the season before rejoining Trostle and gaining another NSCA championship.  

   Shane's biggest win in the 1979 came at Eldora Speedway in Busch Bash and a $10,000 payday driving for the Nickles Brothers.  The brothers got so excited seeing Carson win they totaled their van by jumping up and down so hard on it!  Back the next year, Shane won again driving for Trostle.

     Carson spent two years (1982-’83) on the WoO tour finishing in the top five each year, before moving into the NCRA dirt champ cars.  He won the season title in 1986 and his biggest individual race win was the Hutchinson (Kansas) Nationals in 1985 driving for Pat Suchy.

     When NCRA made the switch to 410 sprint cars in 1988, Shane made the switch as well, finishing in the top ten every from 1990 to 1999, driving for James Helms.

     Along with his driving duties, Carson has been a race promoter at Oklahoma City, a ride-along instructor for the Richard Petty Driving Experience, and Vice President of Race Operations for the World of Outlaws and has always been one of the best ambassadors the sport of sprint car racing could ever hope to have.
