Tim Schulz started drag racing in 1977 with a 1974 Corvette, Tim bracket raced at Kearney Raceway and ran in the mid-11 second E.T.s at 120mph, and raced until the late 1980s.  In 1988, the Lincoln crew for Don Garlits’ Bonneville streamliner was behind the curve and asked Tim if he was interested in helping on the car.  Schulz helped with the wiring and went to Bonneville as a crew member that August for the National event.

   This was Tim’s first trip to the salt flats.  On the trip home, Tim and John MacKichan started talking about building a streamliner. With much help from many of their friends, they completed the car in time for the 1989 Bonneville Speed Weeks.  Schulz completed the qualifications for a license and go for a class record.  The record they were attempting to break was the D/gas mark held by Team Vesco at 237mph.  Schulz made a two-way run with an average of 248.668mph smashing the former record. 

​   In September, 1989, the team returned with the same 302 small block and Tim was able to re-set the record at 267mph!  The MacKichan/Schulz Speedway Motors Streamliner set eight records in the two decades it raced.  ​
